Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is the knee walker the optimnal solution over crutches or a walker?

A: Yes. The knee walker is a better solution for ankle and foot injuries because it allows the patient to be completely non-weight bearing on the injured foot. It also allows the injured area to heal more quickly because the foot and ankle are propped up which decreases swelling. The decreased swelling allows the body to heal the injured area more quickly.

Q: Which is better-a transporter or a manual wheelchair?

A: It depends on the patient. If the patient has arm strength and can propel himself using his upper body, then manual wheelchair would be the first choice. If the patient has limited or no upper body strength, then the transporter would be the best option. The difference between a transporter and a manual wheelchair is the wheels and the ability of the patient to propel himself or not. Transporters have small wheels for the use of transporting the patient. The manual wheelchair has large enough wheels for the patient to reach and propel himself by pushing the wheels with his hands.
